Athens Area Sustainability Festival
September 30 and October 1, 2006
The Athens (Ohio) Area Sustainability Festival is an annual grassroots community event organized by volunteers working year-round. The festival celebrates the many small businesses, organizations, individuals, and initiatives in the region dedicated to building community identity rooted in the principles of sustainability.
All funds raised in this project are donated to area charities. The Festival is held at the Athens County Fairgrounds. Join Third Sun in promoting renewable energy at the festival, where we will have an exhibit and present a workshop on Green Energy for your home.

Solar Tour
October 7, 2006 -10am
The 4th Annual Ohio Solar Tour on October 7, 2006, is conducted by Green Energy Ohio and the American Solar Energy Society (ASES). Encompassing sustainable features beyond solar energy, the statewide event features simultaneous tours in all corners of the state and highlights solar, wind, biomass, green design and energy-saving technologies. An "Ohio Renewable Energy Resource Guide" includes the information on all tours conducted in Ohio and informative articles on utilizing clean energy. The guidebook is available now for free at local health food stores. Click here for more information on all the tours. Southeast Ohio’s Solar Tour will feature residential and commercial buildings and feature, on-grid and off-grid solar and wind power, alternative building techniques and passive solar home design. The tour will begin at Ohio University’s Innovation Center, 340 West State St., in Athens at 12 noon. NABCEP Certification
Geoff Greenfield is now a NABCEP Certified Solar PV Installer™. Owner and
chief installer at Third Sun, Geoff sat for the first ever, national solar installer
exam in October of 2003. Geoff is now one among 63 certified installers nationwide.

Third Sun Featured in Ohio Magazine
In the October edition of Ohio
Magazine, an article called “Green Living” featured Third Sun
Solar and Wind Power, Ltd. owners Geoff and Michelle Greenfield. The article
focused on the annual Ohio Solar Tour, sponsored by Green Energy Ohio, and
the fact that renewable energy is a growing trend in Ohio. Download

Another Successful Southeastern
Ohio Solar Tour
Southeast Ohio hosted its fifth annual Solar Tour on October 4, 2003. Seventy
people came out to tour ten different sites in Athens, Amesville, Albany and
New Marshfield. This year the tour was part of the First Annual Ohio Solar
Tour, which featured tours in five areas of the state: Northeast (Cleveland),
Central (Columbus), Northwest (Toledo), Southwest (Cincinnati and Dayton) and
Southeast (Athens and surrounding counties). A wonderful statewide booklet
was produced by Green Energy Ohio. Booklets are packed full of information
on solar sites in Ohio, energy efficiency and solar and wind power. The 2004
tour is set for October 2, 2004. Check back here for details as the date approaches. |
